Turns out that I just don’t like they way those particular humbuckers sounded and I don’t care for the Strat’s control layout and extra pickup. Hated how it felt and sounded even after upgrading the electronics, but it made me re-examine my pickup preference. Then I had an old Squier strat that I never liked. My first electric guitar was an old Les Paul-type from Samick/Greg Bennett Designs that I never liked the sound of, and wondered if I maybe just wasn’t a humbucker guy. I recently got one for myself and I’m really enamored with it.
